At this price there are other options available. The screen viewing angle is horrible. However, given the price, you would be hard pressed to find better performance.

The product is good if you know what you are purchasing. Do not compare it to an AppleTV. You are only paying a third so you will be getting less functionality. However, if you have an Android product, i.g. phone/tablet, they supplement each other very well.

Yes. The chromecast operates off an HDMI port. Think like external player.

Download speed for streaming

Because of my distance from a central station, my Internet connection lets me download at a max speed of 1.5 Mbps, with an occasional 170 Mbps. Is that fast enough to stream movies or HBO? If Chromecast is plugged into the computer via HDMI, is the download stored in the unit? Or is it stored anywhere else, or do I have to watch the streaming movie or show as it is being streamed? Guess I am not clear on how Chromecast works.
You should have no problem streaming.

Does Excel come loaded on this tablet?

I want to use this tablet at meetings that require I capture data in Excel. Will this device work for this -- I have to download the data from the spreadsheet into QuickBooks.
No, it doesn't. But there are similar software available in google play store.

How wide is this tablet ?

When I read about tablets it tends to only give 1 measurement - the biggest one & some call it length & others call it width. I want to know what the other measurement is (by any name). It is important to know if it will fit in my hand without having to hold both the top & bottom. The only reason I didn't buy a Kindle FireHDX 7 (I think that's what it is) is because it's too wide to hold in my hand confidently.

Can you connect your tv your tablet?
It depends if your TV is capable of it. Personally, I have a chromecast attached to my TV and run the tablet through there.

I have an older TV and the hdmi port Is broken. Can the chromecast be plugged into my smart dvd player?
No, it can't. The connection requires a direct connection to HDMI.

Yes, you can. There are several programs available in google play store you can install to cast directly from the web browser.
