if your charging an iPhone 5 - don't worry the device won't pull more AMPS/Watts than the cord can handle - (yes even if you use an IPad charger)

What is the difference between a slid state drive and a portable hard drive?
your question is in Error - SSD means solid state - no moving parts - you can have that TYPE of drive in a portable or in your lap top or home computer.
