What's great about it: 1080P with 240hz, awesome picture, sleek design. light weight
What's not so great: Nothing Yet
I am blown away at the quality of this TV. First and foremost, you don't find many 40 inch TV's equipped with 240 hz anymore. The transitions between fast moving scenes are flawless. As far as there being a problem with the sound, I haven't noticed. The speakers are in the back; however, many flat screens incorporate their speakers this way. It should be noted, reviewers, who view the rear set speakers as a fault are most likely envisioning a home theatre qualilty sound coming out of any TV they buy and should look to upgrade to full surround sound. If that is what your are wanting then this isn't the tv for you; the sound quality is perfectly fine for any room.
For the price, size, and quality I would recommend this TV as a great secondary tv for any room but can definately be used as a main TV in any room

what's the difference between a Vizio E Series TV and a Vizio M Series TV?

The E series stands for ECO. This is more energy effiecent the other models and ranges from sizes 19-42in
