This TV has been on my radar for over half a year now. I was first introduced to the 1080 version of this TV late last year and fell in love with it. Yet it was lacking the clarity of an UHD. Upon considering that TV I was told about this one and how it was coming out in 2015. I decided to save up and wait for it instead. The reviews looked great, and I was super excited. True there are some concerns about the blue color going out after a certain amount of time. But I'm hoping LG fixed that in this model.
I ended up on the 65" model and decided to wall mount it because that is honestly the only place it can go in my townhouse. The best buy website said there was a free wall mount that came with the TV, due to the fact that LG didn't make this TV VESA compliant. I ended up going into a store to order it so I made sure everything went smoothly. I bought this TV along with the Total Assurance Platinum XL, because I definitely want this TV calibrated, hung, and get the Geek Squad Protection. When the Geek Squad agents came out to my place to hang the TV there was no mount. Apparently you don't get the free mount when you order from the store.
After the agents went back to the store to look for the mount they returned saying there was none. I went back to the store I ordered from and they ended up having to go to their parts website to order the part for me. At first they wanted me to pay for it, but after some talking I ended up getting the mount for free, as Best Buy's website promised. Thank you manager.
When the mount arrived I again scheduled an appointment to have the TV hung only to find out the original agent closed the order. After a day we got that straightened out and an appointment was set. When the next agents came out they discovered the wall mount had spacings for half the size of US studs. They told me to mount two 1" x 3" boards between the studs so that we could mount the TV onto those boards. Another appointment ruined.
After I secured two boards into place another appointment was made. This time the agents came out and were successfully able to mount the TV. The whole process was a freaking nightmare mostly due to the design of the LG TV in not being VESA compliant. Going into this I knew the wall mount was special, I didn't know it was this special. I even had a Magnolia Consultant tell me that there would be an adapter piece to attach this special mount to a SANUS mount. During this process I tried contacting his store, him, and LG to no avail. That consultant never responded to me, the store was clueless, and LG had never heard of the part.
Now that the TV is mounted I can finally enjoy it. The color levels are amazing, even uncalibrated, the picture is crisp and clear, and the 3D is amazing. Now I do have to point out the first TV I received had a dysfunctional 3D rendering across the bottom of the screen. After a night of talking to LG and they not giving me a firm answer it was obvious I needed to exchange the TV. Luckily that process was easy.
Mostly I am watching streaming services or movies with no programming, which is why I like the smart capability. The smart ribbon across the bottom is great and quick to access. The only suggestion I'd make is to have more apps. A vast majority of my digital content is stored on Cinemanow (I refuse to support Wal-Mart in using their Vudu service) and I can't access it. Otherwise, it's pretty easy to navigate, smooth, and clean.
I know it seems like I've complained a bit, but this TV really is amazing which is why I went with 4 stars instead of 2 or 3. There are just a few shortcomings (non-VESA compliant, a wall mount not made for US walls, and lack of apps) that prevent me from giving this TV a 5 star. If you're looking for a TV that is top of the line this is well up there. Definitely my favorite, especially with it's super thin design.
I would recommend this to a friend!

what about screen glare from ambient light

I've had no issues with glare on this TV, not even from natural light. I'm putting up a couple HUE strips behind the TV soon to help during the evenings, but overall I have had no issues with glare.
