I tested this speaker 3 times after buying first the Sony XRS 7 series ($299 on sale for $195), and then buying the Harmon Kardon Onyx ($399 on sale for $199). The Sony was good, nice sound, but not loud enough for me, especially on battery power. The Bose is louder but doesn't have much bass, which makes sense since its a relatively thin speaker, so it can only produce so much bass. The HK Onyx is shaped like a chubby Frisbee, and has excellent bass for portable wireless speaker, even on battery. What is interesting is that BB did not have the HK out on the floor at my store or at the BB Mobile store in the mall. I'm guessing its because they don't want folks comparing the HK to the far more expensive Bose. If you are going to use around the house and outside at home, the HK kills the Bose sound. If you are going to pack it up, then the shape and the set metal stand is going to be a challenge, though not impossible.

Good sound quality, but not enough volume or bass

Bought this a couple of weeks ago, and was initially impressed when it was plugged in inside the house. Good quality sound, especially at sale price of $195. Problem is volume isn't high to start with even on AC, and when on battery, the bass amp drops from 16W to 6W, and the tweeters from 16W to 8W. So outside, you have to plug it in, which is a hassle with extension cords if no AC right where you are. Even on AC outside not very loud. Speaker has plastic housing which slips around on surface, pointing in some other direction. Don't like the controls, which are touch only, so when I picked up the speaker I would accidently switch it to "network" and lose the Bluetooth. This speaker has a lot of tech you don't need, like Wifi and DLNA, whatever good that's supposed to do. In the $200 range, I would definitely buy the Harmon Kardon Onyx, which is incredible, has much better volume, and the bass is great. Bring the Sony back tomorrow #can't justify 2 $200 portable speakers!#.

I bought the Sony SRS X7 on sale at BB for $195 as was pretty impressed, for about 2 weeks. Didn't have the volume and bass I was looking for, especially on battery power. The store didn't have this speaker. Saw it on sale yesterday for $199, and man, what a difference. Bass is incredible for this speaker size, volume is very good, though it does drop off a bit on battery, but nothing like the Sony did. Design is very cool, and functional, as there are small rubber pods on the front bottom which keeps the speaker in place, unlike the Sony that likes to groove around on hard surfaces. The sound probably isn't as accurate as the Sony, but its very good, and I will take the volume / bass superiority any time. Outside, I had to plug in the Sony as the bass drops off from 16W to 6W, which is a real hassle if you don't have an AC outlet right where you need it. This speaker is good without the AC, but also better with it. Easy set up, basic operation, nice carrying handle built in.

I bought this sound bar yesterday for $69, so bummed it went back to $99 because I was going to buy at least 1 more. Sound is very impressive for this price point. Bluetooth hooked up immediately to my iphone. Very easy to use. Good bass sound even though the bar is thin and light. 3 sound profiles. Has subwoofer out, which is superior to Vizio sound bar which does not. Hooked up an old Yamaha subwoofer and the sound is pretty great. Highly recommended, even at $99.

Can I play music loaded in my USB flash through the USB port at the back of speaker

I have my music loaded in a memory card that is inside a flash drive. I inserted the flash drive in the USB port at the back but it did not play.
Nope. It's only for updating the software.

Does this have a remote ?

Nope. But your phone is your remote, so you don't need on.

What would be the right subwoofer to buy for this?

The speakers are fine but they don't have any bass. I want to add some bass. What subwoofer or woofer should I buy?
It depends on the room size and your neighbors. I hooked up a small, 8 inch Yamaha 100 watt subwoofer and its probably more bass than I need. I also have a Klipsh 400 watt 10 inch sub in the family room and it was way to much, but did rattle the walls nicely.

Comparable with wireless sub?

Would I be able to use a wireless sub from a Samsung Soundbar/Wireless Sub combo with this unit or do I have to use a wired sub?
No. But I hooked up to a small wired subwoofer and it sounds great.

How long should it take for the soundbar to start once it is turned on? Mine takes 30 seconds or more. Shouldn't it go right on when I hit the switch?
Mine turns on immediately, so maybe its a lag with your sound source?
