What's great about it: Works easily and flawlessly.
What's not so great: Nothing to say here.
The Dynex Hard Drive enclosure allows you to easily retrieve crucial data from your failing hard drive! Set up is quick and easy, and works flawlessly for Mac or PC. This item will save your skin and save you some skin, as it costs less than a third of what you would pay if you had the experts perform data retrieval for you. Buy one and have it on hand for insurance against an untimely hard drive failure.

Why can't I get it to be recognized on my Macbook Pro for more than a few minutes?

When I plug into the USB port to get info off a Dell laptop HD, it will run (I hear it and the blue light flickers), I see it look enough to start a virus scan with MacKeeper but, after a few thousand files are scanned and it looks like it is progressing, it stops, disappears and I get a message that the disk was "...not ejected properly" and "to select it in "Finder" and eject it. Also, that Mac OS wil attempt to repair any damage to the info on the disk. I can not see it anywhere to eject properly. Can you help me retrieve the old data and then formate it for an external HD?
PJChipper, I had some issue initially getting my iMac to recognize the drive from my PC laptop, but this was taken care of with a simple reboot of the iMac while the Dynex unit was still on and plugged in. On reboot, the iMac recognized the drive and presented it in Finder.
