Needed to replace ADSL modem used with AT&T DSL in legacy Bell South area of Georgia. I can no longer afford to pay $75 for the approved with support AT&T Motorola. I had to call AT&T for user ID and password to DSL account. After that, the installation went well. It took about 30 minutes from start of opening the box to finishing with getting news websites to load. I hope this device lasts much longer than the Motorola modems and 2Wire gateways.
I would recommend this to a friend!

need modem for both cable and dsl

No such equipment exists that I know of. It would be one expensive overheating device if it did exist.

No. This is for DSL. You need a cable modem.

My ISP (CenturyLink) is telling me that this modem will not support or run with 25mbps DSL and I will have to use their modem, is this true?

ISP tells me that the Netgear ADSL+2 will not work with 25 Mbps internet and I will have to use their modem/router combo. Is this true or will I be able to utilize my Netgear?
ADSL2+ modems are limited to 24,576 kilobits per second downstream and 3,584 kilobits per second upstream. Century Link is probably using a pair bonding modem that combines the capability of two telephone circuits to ensure you get the full 25Mbit/s. That is special equipment not usually sold in retail stores. For example the Cisco DDR2200 Residential Gateway has two telephone inputs on the back. https://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/pdf/modems/datasheet-ddr2200.pdf

So, no the Netgear DM111PSP is not going to work in a line bonding setup for 25Mbps.
