What's great about it: Works with all components
What's not so great: It supposedly is limited to only several components.
It works well with all my components. I've a Samsung 3d TV, Direct TV, Pioneer SC71 A/V receiver and a Samsung 3d Blue Ray Player. It works seamlessly and is quite intuitive. All the buttons match my standard remotes and I don't need to have them all out to jump from one to the other.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Great Sound and runs cool
What's not so great: Should be WI-FI and a little more intuitive
I love the sound. It interfaces well with my components. I like the Multi-zone capability. I'm having a little difficulty getting the other zone to work. Updating the software with a USB was good. They don't tell you you can't keep the update file in a folder on the flash drive. The system looks good and eventually I'll have to run a cat 5 to run network to the A/V receiver in the near future. I'm not running a sub-woofer at this time and it still sounds great. I plan on purchasing high end Martin Logan Subwoofer to rock the house. I'm using SpeakerCraft AIM-7 speakers built into the ceiling. All in all I'm please with what I have.
This product has... Plenty of power for all my needs, Interfaces well with TV, Good multi-zone capability

What's great about it: I won't ever have to worry about my installation
What's not so great: Cost is high for wire.
Expensive, however, you get what you pay for. The reatings for this wire was very high. I wouldn't want a lesser quality inside my walls and ceiling.

I bought this for the background sound on our 5.1 ceiling mounted sound system. I was surprised how good they were. The salesman really helped me pick the best value/quality. I could have spent more and not gained anything.

What's not so great: N/A
The salesman suggested these speakers over ordering Bose. We had had the speakers built in to our ceiling. No vibration with crisp clear sound at any volume level.

How do I hook this up to a tv that only has a digital optical output?

The SC-71 has an optical input. However, I don't understand having the $1k receiver attached to a $200 TV.
