What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: It does not clean clothes
I had been using a friends Roper by Whirlpool, many people objected to how strongly it washed, but it suited me perfectly. I like my clothes CLEAN. The reason I choose to purchase a new washer & dryer was because, as I said, mine were borrowed. I purchased the GE (model GTW4250___) for 3 essential reasons. A) They were American made, B) The washer had an agitator C) The price was better, than most. With the GE washer I could have been washing with dirty water the way the clothes came out. The clothes were dingy, but worse than that, if at all possible, they smelled as bad coming out, as when they were originally put in. It took 16 washes to get three loads of clothes anywhere near the semblance of clean! Needless to say I sent the washer and dryer back within the time frame allotted. Thank You Best Buy. I replaced them with a LG washer (6571176) & Matching Dryer (1540072) from Best Buy and was happily surprised that a washer without an agitator could wash clothes. Still not my old Roper but, I would definitely recommend this LG washer & dryer set. There are a couple of things that you need to be aware of, one of which is you have no control of the water level. So aside from doing 2 rinses, I actually do an entire wash and rinse cycle without soap. I do this because I cannot take the chance of having any soap left in the clothes. Where the dryer is concerned, when attempting to dry my electric blanket, the sensors continually stopped the machine. I finally figured out it was a safety feature. To overcome this I simply continued to turn it on. The dryer may have construed the electrical plug on/in the blanket to be something which may have been capable of harming, in some way the dryer (electrical fire, damage to the drum.) At any rate I had no problem with any other drying.
This product is or has... All the cycles I need, Energy efficient, Big enough capacity for a comforter, Acceptable level of noise, my washer & dryer are in the garage so i cannot he
About me... Budget Conscious, Always get the deal, occasional user, i wash roughly 2-3 days a week
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wash Cycle Time

Is there any place that lists the total washing time for each of the cycles?
My understanding is that the HE detergent is thinner and can penetrate the thread easier than the thicker version of detergent we are accustomed to using. One thing you may want to do if you have a preference for the older version of detergent is to thin the soap with water. But if your machine regulates the water level and is not an agitator make sure you don't use as much soap as you are accustomed to, for at least a couple of tries. This way you can check and see if your wash comes out clean by using the thinning process. Also be aware that if you have been using your washer's soap dispenser, DON'T use it! As from what I read the old detergent will potentially clog the pipe it runs through. Unless you can thin out the detergent and have it receive and dispense the necessary amount of liquid it increases to, which I doubt, fill the tub with water and then put the soap into the water filled tub. Or, pour the soap into the tub while the machine is filling with the water. Many of the newer machines lock up at the beginning of the fill cycle and won't let you open the door unless you PAUSE the machine. My machine, for example, will not allow the tub to fill with water unless the door is locked closed. Hope this has helped.
