Great to finally see this movie in HD. Saw it in the theater with my dad in 1988 and it's lots of fun to share with my son now. Who would've guessed that the guy who made this movie also made the Back to the Future trilogy and Forrest Gump?

Can Chromecast be used as a general PC-to-TV device?

Can Chromecast be used to simply duplicate my PC's screen on the TV, independent of any apps or browser? That is, can I see on TV whatever I am doing on my PC, say work on a Word doc or Excel spreadsheet, browse internet with Firefox, etc...?
If not, do you know of any device that will do that?
In order for the Chromecast to "cast" your PC to your TV, it must be used with an app or browser that can specifically work with the Chromecast. So no, you cannot see on TV whatever you're doing on your PC, unless you're using the Google Chrome browser. That works quite well. Otherwise you'll need to plug your PC directly into your TV or stereo receiver via HDMI or VGA cable.

A/V Receiver

Can this be used in one of the HDMI inputs of a A/V receiver?
Absolutely; so long as you use your receiver to pass through video to your TV, it should work exactly like plugging in a regular HDMI cable.
