What's great about it: More reinforcement at the neck of the connector
What's not so great: A bit expensive
This HDMI cord has a much stronger cord and neck reinforcement. Other HDMIs have cheesy neck connection and are very easy to break the connection loose inside the male connection.
While these are not cheap you do get what you pay for.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Plugged into my desktop and into my flatscreen smart tv, does not work?

You will likely have to go into the menu and select the HDMI connection on the flat screen, or into your computer control panel set up for the screen. Reboot and it should come up the screen once plugged in and directed to the proper port selection.
