let me tell you, this is the best subwoofer I've ever had and I've had other top of the line brands as well. no issues with rattling the encasing. with this sub paired up with the Sonos Playbar, you'll have the ultimate home theatre/sound setup. I am extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend. Yes, it's pricey, especially if you're getting both at the same time, but in the long run it's worth it. Wireless connectivity. you'll have the ability to place this subwoofer anywhere in the room, and it actually looks good. easily add speakers in the future. no wires through the walls, ceilings, etc. GET IT.
I would recommend this to a friend!

After about 3 weeks of debating and reading reviews, I decided to pull the trigger and get the Sonos Playbar along with the Sonos Sub. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny! The sound is amazing (much better once you get it home and crank it up than in the store) and setup was super easy. The main reason I went with Sonos was because of the wireless ability. No one likes wires and having to run them through walls, ceilings, etc. will cost you more in the long run. Just connect the Playbar to your TV with an optical cable and you're ready to go. The Sub will connect wirelessly. I really like the Sonos app (you'll use this to set up your speakers as well as setting up your music streaming services, etc.) Adding more speakers in the future will be easy as well. You'll add them through the Sonos app and they'll connect wirelessly over your Sonos network. I've had Klipsch tower speakers and this Sonos setup blows them away. If you're on the line as to spend this amount of money for speakers/sound, trust me, you'll love it once you get it home! Sonos is the future of home theatre and sound.
I would recommend this to a friend!

How is the sound quality without the subwoofer? Does it have enough bass?

it's great. there's enough bass to satisfy the average consumer, but if you really want to take it up to a whole new level, I would highly recommend the Sub. mind blown.
