What's great about it: inexpensive and large capacity
What's not so great: does not control spacetime
Needed a backup drive to replace my 2tb external and this one hit the spot. The USB 3 transfer speed is good. Backed up my nearly 2tb of media files in a fraction of the time it took over USB 2. Its been running for a few weeks without a problem.
This product has... Reliable, Fast, Quiet, Large capacity/good size

Do I need a special USB Cable to connect the Toshiba External USB 3.0 Hard Drive to my HP USB 2.0 tower?

The cable that comes with the drive will plug into USB 2 port on your computer. It is backwards compatible though it will only transfer at usb2 speeds. Also note that the other end of the cable(the end that connects to the external drive) is not a standard usb2 plug, so you will not be able to replace the cable with an old cable that you may have lying around.
