I keep a few of these around for incremental backups of my laptops. They're faster than the USB 2 version, pretty dependable, and that makes it easy to stay backed up.

These last for years, so you'll want the faster ones. The 64GB ones are worth the money for the amount of storage. Make sure you don't buy the ones that say USB 2/3--they don't have the speed of the USB 3.0 ones.

Seagate has some problems a few years ago with drives made in the Philippines. I think they've recovered. This product lines has always worked for me. Very slim and portable. Never a problem. Its USB 3.0 interface is much, much faster. Strongly recommend these.

I immediately reformatted for use with a Mac. No reason to pay more for the Mac version. WD's backup software doesn't do Mac, and isn't as good as Windows' own, either. Very pleased with WD Ultras. They are slim, sturdy, and last for years. My favorite brand for this purpose. Strongly recommend them for regular backups of very large media files.

I use this to back up both Mac and PC drives. Very pleased, especially with what appears to be Paragon NFTS drivers so I can leave it formatted for PC and read all on all devices. the USB3 cord seemed a bit loose, but has not been a problem. Priced right, this is a good choice.

What's not so great: Muffles the microphone a bit
Bought for daughter, at her request--she swears by them. They take a phenomenal amount of punishment, direct hits, drops and I'm told survive much time underwater. Fairly attractive set of colors, too. Make sure you get the one for your particular iPhone. Very slim, given this level of protection. My only concerns are that speech can be muffled if you don't speak directly into the microphone, and fairly high price.
I'd recommend this over others if you plan to drop you phone in water.

Do y'all sell the power box for it
The 2 1/2 inch versions are self-powered; you just plug them into your USB socket. If you're asking about the 3 1/2 inch versions that use power adaptors, they're really not available from these manufacturers. Instead, go to Best Buy and ask for help getting a matching (probably generic) adaptor.

Does a users manual come with this hard drive? Mine came with a very terse Quick start guide.
Not much of a manual on these. Check their website and discussion boards. Youtube videos, too. In particular, look at the manuals or instructions for the backup programs you'll likely use it with. Sad but true that the market for these seems to be those who don't need a manual.

Can you backup OS files and two computers with different Windows OS.
I have a desktop running Windows 8.1 and a laptop running Windows 7. Will this drive backup the system files as well as my personal data on both computers and how does it differentiate between the two computers? Can I use this drive to transfer files between the two computers?
Both Windows versions use the same NTFS formatting. You'll be able to move files from one PC to the other most conveniently if the files have not been compressed. Most backup programs will, by default, compress the files being backed up. So for ease, recommend you create separate partitions for each computer (7 and 8.1 versions), and then clone without compressing files. If you're concerned you'll forget which is which, give the partitions different names, sizes or drive IDs. Good luck.

does this have ac capability
I need an ehd that has its own power suppy. Are there any portables that also have this ability, if so what are the Model numbers please. Thank you.
Size seems to matter. Most 2.5" EHDs now have a single USB connection handling power as well as data. Many 3.5" EHDs use an A/C adapter, separate from the data cord, in addition to being cheaper per GB and possibly more reliable over the long term. I prefer the small ones for their portability, myself.

Will this cable work for a second generation Apple TV and DYNEX TV with HDMI ports?
Yes. HDMI 1.4 is compatible, carrying both video and audio.
