What's great about it: A pretty powerful tablet/laptop
What's not so great: Not so inexpensive
Just wanted to say right off the back, this is an amazing device to use. When you look at it you might think its only a tablet, but under that gorgeous screen which is a 1080p resolution you'll why it runs smoothly. Its carrying the hardware of a laptop. Microsoft had just upgraded the processor from an Intel core i5-4200U CPU to an Intel core i5-4300. Its also packing an Intel 4400 GPU. This allows it to run flawlessly. It may be a bit thicker than all the usual tablets that you see out there, but its very portable. The portability of a tablet and the powerhouse of a laptop in one device.
You can use this to easily search the web with internet explorer which is pretty fast and reliable on Windows 8.1 Pro. Listening to music is great with the Xbox music app. It lets you stream your music in its online library and save it on cloud based version for you to listen to it online. The downpart about this is that you'll have to listen to 30 sec commercials. Watching videos is really good because the screen is beautiful. The rear and front facing cameras are both alright nothing too special compared to a top smartphone. This is great for getting things done if you're a productive person. From be able to type papers and the ability to connect to a printer to print to wirelessly.
The windows app store has plenty of useful apps. Working on documents is fun and very reliable. You can use the surface pen that this comes to mark up your documents. No need to print out PDF documents and wait days for to receive it in the mail. All you would have to do is sign it right there and in minutes send it through email. It helps you sign emailed documents to jot down notes. I'm currently a high school student who bought this to use throughout college. Using OneNote on this allows you write down notes especially being creative for those complex math problems. Multitasking is amazing, giving you the ability to use two apps at once. This would be good for those busy students who need a laptop and a tablet in one. What I recommend is bumping up to get the 128GB versions. This doesn't have too much space. I also recommend purchasing the type cover 2 which is backlight. This serves as a cover and a keyboard as well. I almost for forgot the best part, the kickstand. The previous version had a single position kickstand, but this one contains a dual kickstand making it extremely comfortable to get work done.

There is no maximum cable length restriction.
