First, make sure you buy the right keyboard for your type of computer-- Mac or Windows. I've been waiting YEARS for this keyboard. I've always hated the Apple chiclet keys and been buying my favorite keyboard whenever I wear one out-- used Apple A1016 extended keyboards made years ago. LOVE - THIS - KEYBOARD! Same Apple extended layout, keys are a bit more substantial than Apple's and have slightly concave tops for a better feel. Plus solar... no more batteries... + wireless. Set up is plug and play: Plug the "unifying" do-hickeys (sorry for the tech jargon) into your computer's USB and off you go. I was concerned about how much light it would take to keep keyboard going, but it's not much. Works great with typical indoor lighting. Get this keyboard!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Is the keyboard backlit? Does the capslock light when it is on? Does anyone miss these features?
The keyboard is not back lit. No capslock light either. It would be nice if the capslock lit up, but it's not a huge deal. I don't remember looking at it all the time anyway on my old keyboards.

key and lamps on top right of keyboard explain?
If you're talking about the key and and LED lights above the calculator pad, you use those to test and see if the light your keyboard is getting is enough to keep it going. Push the key with the circle with rays coming off of it and either the green LED to the right lights up briefly, meaning it's getting enough light, or the red LED lights up briefly, meaning not enough light. I only check it once in a while if the room is getting darker, etc... like in the evening. Then I just turn on my desk lamp and continue.
