What's great about it: great size, great picture, able to plug in multiple devices
What's not so great: nothing so far
I just bought this TV and it is one of the best investments I've ever made. This is my first flat screen HDTV and I can't believe how amazing it is. I have all my devices plugged into it, including my HD DVR cable box, my Blu-ray player, a Google Chromecast player, and my wii. The Chromecast is super affordable and essentially turns the TV into a smart TV, allowing me to run my favorite apps like Pandora and Netflix from my computer/smartphone/tablet onto my TV. Netflix run through chromecast from my tablet to TV has AMAZING picture quality. the image is crisp, clear, and bright. I was watching Netflix on my old TV right before I set up this TV, and the difference is amazing. This TV is amazing quality and incredibly affordable, and the small upgrade of the additional chromecast makes it a smart TV so there is no reason to pay even more for a smart TV. My wii runs perfectly. My cable box also runs perfectly. And I can switch between all these devices incredibly easily through the many input settings available. I am so satisfied with this purchase and I think it is a perfect living room TV in every way.

Does this TV have channel and volume controls on the TV itself, not just on the remote?

Yes it does. Contrary to other posts about this TV, there are controls on the TV itself. the controls are on the back of the TV rather than the front. There is a mini control pad mounted on the back righthand side of the TV.
