Does WD stand for Western Digital. AC powered Hard Drives are faster than just USB?

Yes to the first, and second question, they are not correlated.

Externally powered hard drives are usually larger capacity for the cost because they use larger (3.5 inch) hard drives (cheaper). Speed is not related to the power adapter or size of hard drive.

does it support USB 2.0 Interface?

Yes, you can use either the USB 3.0 cable that comes with it, or a regular micro USB 2.0 cable to connect to this hard drive. Either cable will work with USB 2.0 port on a computer.

Im not getting this to just have my files backed up..my reason for purchase is simply to gain plenty of extra storage.

What is the Rotation Speed

How long would the avg. defrag. be? I would hope the speed would be near 7200 or better.

This drive is 5400 rpm, hence the low cost.

Average defrag speed varies immensely with the fragmentation level, but it is fair to say a hard drive like this (5400 rpm, less than $150) will not be incredibly fast. These drives are designed for capacity, not speed.

Is this drive 5400rpm or 7200rpm?
