What's great about it: Small, ease of use, versatility
What's not so great: It's kind of ugly.
The Bridge allows me to carry my Play:5 around the house into different rooms without having to hunt for Ethernet. Additionally, I can connect to the internet through the Bridge on my android phone using SonosNet (I don't have wifi, and I get TERRIBLE cell signal). It's a small little box, but I wish they offered it in black as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Sound Quality, Ease of use
What's not so great: Cost
I love my Sonos system. The ability to play music from Songza, Pandora, my personal collection, and even FM radio stations is amazing. I set sleep timers and alarms so my Sonos kicks on in the morning. I can start my music from my phone while in my driveway walking up to my door. It sounds great. I'll probably end up getting the Sub and/or Playbar to go with it. I think the play:5 is worth the investment over the play:3.

What type signal is transmitted, i..e. 1080p, 720p, etc?

Composite carries signal in the 480i range. I would not expect HD quality on any level. IF you need HD, go with a wireless HDMI kit.

Does this transmitt hi definition and blu ray signals - without picture quality loss?

This will only transmit the analog signal from RCA cables. IF you need to wirelessly transmit HD signals, there are wireless HDMI kits. This one is more suited for a basic TV/DVD player or maybe and older cable box.
