What's great about it: Great HD picture, plenty of image/audio/channel options, attractive design, minimal bezel, thin for a direct-lit LED TV.
What's not so great: No internet features (though not expected at this price), glossy black attracts fingerprints and dust
To preface: I bought this for television for our bedroom (to upgrade from a 19" I could barely see with my contacts in, let alone without them). It was going in the corner, so I knew that the depth of the television wasn't overly important (spending extra on a ~2" deep TV would not be worth it, since you'd rarely see that thinness without going out of your way), but the design of the television, as well as the thickness of the bezel was more important, as well as picture quality, etc.
This TV was still listed as "New" when I purchased it, so there wasn't much about it, but as it was a Sharp, I felt I wouldn't be disappointed. Despite being a direct-lit LED TV (which usually are about 3-3.5" deep), this TV is only 2.5" deep. So while it is not razor thin - it is also not a big thick thing either. The design from the front is attractive, with a piano black finish to all surfaces (except the speaker grilles), which, when clean, looks fantastic. The bezel around the screen is also quite minimal compared to some other 32" TVs at this price range.
Plugging the TV in and after running the channel program, it's evident that with how the television signals are transmitted, the SD doesn't fill the whole screen (vertically), and doesn't look overly good - something that is generally true with any new TV on an SD source. Digital (HD) channels, however, look fantastic. I'm sure this TV would display a great picture when connected to a high definition source (such as a Blu-Ray player, or the like).
The sound is something else that is out of the ordinary for a TV of this price - or in general with newer televisions. Most new TVs do not focus much on the speakers in an effort to make things as small/thin as possible, and usually have back or down-firing speakers that don't sound overly good, and usually don't have much volume. This TV is an oddball, because it has a LOT of sound volume, and decent sound quality. Quite impressive from such a small front speaker area, too.
All in all, this TV is an incredible value. It has 1080p at the price point other TVs have 720p (not that it much matters at anything below 50" - it still adds to the value), great picture quality, relatively slim depth-wise, especially for a non-edge-lit LED, attractive and slim frontal design. The only thing it doesn't have is any internet features, but other sets at this price don't either, so that is by no means a dealbreaker. The only downside is the glossy finish attracts dust and fingerprints - but if you keep it clean, it will keep on looking good.
I'd buy it again, that's for certain.

Cable System hookup

I currently have Time Warner cable with a HD cable box. With my current TV, an older (15-18 years) Phillips Magnavox TV, the TV has to be set on Channel 4 and then the channel selection is done through the cable box. We don't even use the TV remote. Is this the way that this TV works, just set the TV on Channel 4 and utilize the calbe box remote to change the channel??
If your current cable box is high-definition, you would simply connect the cable box to the TV with an HDMI or Component Video cable to ensure you get a high-definition picture. And then yes, as before, you would control channels with the cable box remote.
