What's great about it: Good Price
What's not so great: not an SSD
Popped it in, installed OS (Windows 7) without a hitch. Good performer and size for the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

will the Seagate Barracuda 500 GB internal hard drive work with windows 8?

As long as you have Serial ATA....which I presume you do if you are even thinking of installed Windows 8. It is SATA III, but will run at SATA II speeds if that's all your controller supports.
