What's great about it: the touch and the size is nice
What's not so great: the memory and the lack of ports
i use this laptop every day for the past 4 months. i play games listen to music, do my school work on it and it works great. However the lack of memory is a problem. i had to buy an external hard drive. The laptop also does not have a HDMI or an ethernet port which i had to buy addapters for both costing more money. I love this laptop though. i use it as a tablet a lot but rarely use the on screen keyboard. the speakers in this laptop are loud and the keyboard is very easy to type on. since the carbon fiber around the screen has no use other than what the screen clicks into it kind of protects the laptop if you happen to drop it and it does not damage the screen. the Track pad works well. this is a great compuiter for windows 8. i wouldnt suggest windows 8 unless you have a touch screen laptop

When moving the screen out of its standard “laptop” position is there a way to prevent disabled keyboard input?

I really need to work on documents using keyboard strokes while the screen in positioned paraellel to the keyboard! If not, is tthere something else that would serve the purpose?
no the keyboard only works when the screen is clicked into place

When screen is positioned parallel with the keyboard, does it respond to keyboard use or only to touch?

backlit keys, do they drain battery?

can you turn off the backlighting on the keys and does it save on battery life?
not sure if it drains the battery but there is a function on the keyboard to turn of the back light keys
