What's great about it: Thin, Light, fast, great pen support.
What's not so great: For an expensive tablet, it still feels cheap.
Depending on model, this tablet either matches the price of the latest iPad, or exceeds it. Considering the two devices raw computing power, this is a disappointment to say the least: The latest Apple products are greatly outcompeting on raw power.
But when it comes to innovative features, Samsung is really trying with the S-pen, and it shows. The pressure sensitive stylus works very well for highlighting and annotating PDF's, so my graduate student needs are met. If you are an artist, the preloaded Sketchbook is loaded with features that I can't use to save my life-- But it looks to be a robust artistic platform.
This is the best current Android Tablet on the market. But for the price point, it is a hard sell to beat out Apple's iPad. If neither of those factors phase you, I highly recommend this tablet.

What's great about it: Thin and matched the construction of the tablet.
What's not so great: Blocks camera usage on the back-camera, and the front will not lay flat if you use it enough.
This case is thin and light. It closely matches the construction style of the tablet itself. But unfortunately, that's as far as I can say positively about this case.
As you would expect, the holes are in the right places: Pen still comes out. The back camera can see out the back. The volume jack is accessible. But the camera will get blocked when you open the unit, and using either one of the designed viewing angles will prevent you from plugging the charger into the unit.
Additionally, if you setup the viewing angles, the case front will become warped and no longer conform to the front of the tablet. This may fade away as the case receives more wear, I intend to test it out for at least a week before judging for sure.
All in all, I would hold off on buying this case. It's mediocre design is expensive, and more or less just a poor knockoff of Apple's attempt with their Smart Cover.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lag/choppiness fix?

Great reviews for this device across the net. I want to buy one for my parents, but one complaint by a lot of people has been lag/choppiness that doesn't seem like it should happen with the specs this unit has. Will this be fixed via software update some time soon?
Not a problem I have had-- Recent firmware updates have seemed to boost performance, however.
