Dell - 15.6" Inspiron Notebook - 8 GB Memory - 1 TB Hard Drive - Silver Aluminum
Stunning, thin design A sleek, sub-1" thin forged aluminum design with diamond-cut beveled edges is just one of the premium features you'll find on the new Inspiron 15. It's easy on the eyes and feels great to hold. The backlit keyboard makes working in low-light environments much easier - it spoils you for anything less. And the edge-to-edge touch display uses Corning® Gorilla® NBT™ Glass to complete a truly breathtaking laptop.Crystal clear sound Waves MaxxAudio® Pro brings crisp, rich sound to your favorite music, movies and videos.

What's great about it: display, build quality, performance, battery life
What's not so great: wifi could be better
When the first wave of Haswell based laptops were announced, I did a lot of research before I've chosen Dell Inspiron 7000. I needed a modern, well designed laptop that would be durable, would come with a touchscreen and a high resolution display (I think those 1366px displays are ugly on 15.6" screens), and would be powerful enough to handle the software that I use (I'm a software engineer, so Visual Studio, SQL Server are being heavily used).
I ordered the laptop online for store pickup and got the unit in a week. The first unit had a tiny group of defective pixels right in the center of the screen (which were always white). After talking to the customer support operator, I returned to the store and asked for a replacement. So PLEASE CHECK YOUR UNIT THOROUGHLY to make sure there are no defects. The second unit was great and didn't have any noticeable problems. Hardware scanning software didn't reveal anything either, so I decided to keep it.
I've been using it for a week now, and I'm really delighted with every aspect of this laptop. The build quality is very sturdy with a premium quality finish you would expect from the likes of Macbook Pro or much more expensive windows laptops. The display is very bright and beautiful, with the touchscreen working exceptionally well. Even though it does not include any SSD cache or hybrid hard drive, the system boots really quickly and after upgrading to Windows 8.1, it started working even better. The battery lasts 6 - 7 hours with slightly dimmed display. The only concern I have so far is that the WiFi antenna may be not that good compared to my old, bulky Lenovo ThinkPad. When you are far from the router, it would sometimes drop the connection, or refuse to see the hotspot. But that's not critical for me, because my working desk is close to the router and the connection is good there.
Overall it is an unbeatable bargain for $930 (incl. taxes), I don't see any reason to buy more expensive laptops if you look for quality and performance and you can live without discreet graphics and super ultra slim laptops...
This product is... Perfect for Business, easy to set up, great touchscreen, great display brightness
About me... Basic web surfing & emails, Business Professional, software engineer
I would recommend this to a friend!

is the resolution 1920x1080?

Hi,
because I did see there is a model of Dell inspiron 7000 on 15" in this resolution(1920x1080) on the Dell website. I am wondering if your product is 1920x1080? what if I receive a 1366x768 one if I order one now?

Thanks!
All i7 models come with FullHD screens. The only 1366px screen is on i5 model.

backlit of the keyboard doesn't work

I got my dell 7537 yesterday, but I cannot open the backlit. Why doesn't it work when I press 'f10' or 'fn+f10'. It should work in this way.
Is there any addition setup on this function? Is this a hardware bug of my laptop? Can I exchange it ?
That's most likely a software issue. I had the same issues with my unit (all the function keys were not working) but the following steps fixed that.

1. Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services
2. Find Human Interface Device Access service and check to see if it is running. If not, set the Startup Type to Automatic and restart your system.

Hope it helps
