Excellent Ultrabook with easy self upgrade options

What's great about it: Self Upgradeability, Display, Wifi, 3 USB 3.0 ports on a 13incher
What's not so great: Fingerprint Magnet, Battery, Comes with Windows 8 instead of Windows 8.1
Asus makes excellent ultrabooks, probably one of the best. I have been using the Asus UX302LA for more than a month now and i am very happy with it but wish a few things could be improved to make it the best.
First a few pros:
1) Excellent Screen: Color reproduction is amazing even at lower resolution settings.
2) Self Upgrade option: It is very easy to upgrade RAM and replace the HDD to an SSD.
3) Good number of ports: Only 13inch haswell ultrabook to have 3 usb ports. all other ultrabooks have only 2 usb ports. It also has full sized HDMI port along with a mini display port.
4) Included accessories: USB to LAN converter adapter, Mini Display to VGA adapter, screen cleaning cloth, good sleeve case.
5) Blue Glass Lid: It looks amazing in person. it surely attracts a lot of attention.
6) a/b/g/n/ac Wifi module: dual mode ac wifi module is the latest and the best. it works flawlessly and gives a better range and speed over 5ghz frequency.
Cons:
1) Glass: The screen and lid glass panel are fingerprint magnet. Asus should have alteast applied an anti-smudge coating if they wanted to use glass.
2) Comes with Win8 instead of Windows 8.1. Upgrade is easy but some drivers are needed to be re-installed separately. Hitting the factory reset button after the upgrade still brings it back to Windows8 instead of 8.1. Getting it pre-installed with win8.1 would be ideal so we have a win8.1 recovery partition as well instead of win8 partition.
3) Should have given a larger 1TB HDD or 128gb mini mSata for this price.
Things that are good but can be improved:
1) Battery: Though the battery runs a OKish 5-6hours in real-life usage its too less considering this is an haswell ultrabook. 3cell battery is too less compared to other ultra books who have atleast 4cell batteries. Any Haswell ultrabook is expected to run atleast a full day (8-9hours) continuous usage on a charge
2) Ultrabook weighs 1.5Kg: It Feels a bit heavy when lid is closed, but as soon as you open it, it feels lot lighter. May be because most of the weight of this laptop is of dual gorilla glass.
Overall this is an excellent choice for an ultrabook with a good combination of looks, power and self upgrade-ability. I would surely recommend it over others in the same price range.

What are the details for upgrading harddrive and ram?
Is it possible to change the hard drive and ram and will doing so void the manufacturers warranty? For the hard drive, what is the size and connector? For the ram, how is the 4gb it comes with configured? Does it have multiple DIMMs and are they soldered or replaceable? What is the maximum memory for each DIMM? Thanks!
Yes Both the hard drive and RAM are self upgradeable. Though it would void your warranty as you would need to open the back plate of the Ultrabook to do that.
HDD can be replaced with another 7mm 2.5in HDD or SSD Sata drive. There is also an Sandisk mini mSata 24gb SSD as a caching drive that can be upgraded to max 128gb.
For the Ram, 2gb is soldered on board and there is a 2gb module in a slot which is replaceable. You will have to use a 1.35v low voltage DDR3 PC-12800 module to replace the 2gb module. Max you can get is a 8gb module just now. So the total RAM can be 10gb in total.
