When my tv is not extended and is fully up against the wall it is not centered to where I want it to be. Is there anyway to fix this?

I've already moved the tv along the holes in the brackets. The tv is also bracketed into the stud closest to the center.
Centered on the wall or level? Centered on the wall you would more than likely have to move the mounting of the TV completely. If you put it where it is because of a stud you can always use heavy duty drywall screws and they would hold the TV if it is less than 50 pounds.

Try adjusting the hex screws in the rear of the mount they allow a lot of motion.
