What's great about it: looks good
What's not so great: it ends there
slow loading, drops internet and doesn't stream netfix very well
but most of all the audio output settings for hdmi on the menu is auto or PCM it does not default to bitstream everything is PCM through an hdmi cable I talked to sony tech support and went through every possible audio menu setting and they said they dont know why it does that!! other tech suggested i just use digital optical that would fix the problem...you've got to be kidding!

What's great about it: on screen menue
What's not so great: smart hub ,internet connection
this machine does not stay connected to the internet it literally shut off and then would turn back on and say no internet connection was available I skipped the wireless router and connected direct....same problem and for gods sake don't call samsung customer service unless you enjoy being treated like an idiot and asked completely irrelivant questions

What's great about it: yamaha name, well built , easy set up, fanatastic picture
What's not so great: nothing
I just built a new home theater system with a top of line 3d smart tv and the biggest problem I had was finding the right 3D blu ray player I tried two Samsung Magnolia players and there "smart" hub still needs work had constant internet connectivity issue and video streaming out of sync with the audio then the top of the sony this has no bitstream option and audio through HDMI is PCM , no DTS no Dolby Digital ...HOWEVER the Yamaha solved all of my problems great audio out options excellent picture and internet connectivity.....buy one !!
This product has... Great DVD upconversion, Useful Internet-enabled features, Good connection options, Easy to use controls

can I view the internet on my hdtv as I would on the computer or I pad or some other device while using the smart wi fi blue ray player
not on the Sony Samung will but there smart hub is very inconsistent

Will Sony BDPS790 3D Blu Ray player work with Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Model R7000-NAS Dual Band Wireless Router?
I saw an earlier answer from Sony that the BDPS790 only supports 2.4 Ghz,but not 5 Ghz in a wireless router. Does that mean the streaming feature on the blu ray player won't work with my router? The router supports 2.4 Ghz (802.11/b/g/n) and 5 Ghz (802.11 a/n/ac). If there will be a problem, is there something I can do to get it to work? Or, is there another Blu-ray player with built-in wi-fi that will support the dual band that's not over $350.00? (2 built in apps most interested in are Netflix and Amazon Instant Video-Amazon has tons of Sony & Panasonic listed as compatible-only a few Samsungs) Thanks in advance for any help someone can give me on this!
if your router supports both 2.4 and 5 Ghz it will work
