I decided to purchase a pair of these because the pick-up on my 3.5 jacks is low on my ASUS motherboard and I had seen this headset worn in a Twitch stream by Bioware employees where it appeared to have a good mic sound. I needed a relatively decent USB headset and the ratings on this one were generally good.
I ran into several issues. The drivers from Logitech failed to properly download for Windows 10, until I found them elsewhere on the Logitech site ( the file they had loaded on the headset page itself, for Windows 10 64-bit, was the wrong file.) The headset itself is cheap and overpriced for what it is, and it shows, and feels it. Light plastic with hard "cloth" plastic mesh ear cups that for some reason are square instead of round, and block out almost no external noise, and I did not find them particularly comfortable.
At first, the microphone sounded awful, skipping in and out, requiring I download a firmware update from Logitech, and then update the driver software, which involved plugging and unplugging the USB multiple times, and configuring Windows 10 sound options. (Sidebar - If anyone with a Realtek driver is reading this, I advise removing the Realtek drivers and using the default WIndows 10 sound options, then whatever software you want - in this case Logitech.) You will also need to disable to microphone output through the headset options unless you want to hear every breath you take. While this is a good option for those doing voiceover while playing, the white noise it produces is excessive.
With software and firmware both up to date, and without other drivers (Realtek) interfering, I was finally able to achieve good mic and decent sound. However, the constant creaking of the cheap plastic headset and the rubbing of the cloth cord against any surface was so loud and disruptive that I couldn't continue to use them. Further, the USB produced uneven sound between left and right ears, causing me to go into Windows and adjust the balance, there. I can't speak to the 7.1 Dolby Surround emulator because I dislike the echo-effect it produces and prefer to leave such things up to the game software itself, so I did not use it.
If you are a casual gamer unconcerned with things like white noise static, uncomfortable ear cups, cheap build materials, and problematic software, but you have to have a blue and black headset, this could be for you.
Instead, I would recommend the Kingston HyperX Cloud, which is a far superior headset (in both USB and Analog varieties) for slightly more money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Microphone recording input quality
What's not so great: Constant hissing noise, loud cord
I bought this to replace a useless mic on my analog Steelseries Siberia (amazing sound, terrible mic.) The microphone on the Kraken 7.1 is decent enough for the job and captures my voice well without too much "phone" sound. Like all of Razer's USB products it has a driver suite that comes via Razer Synapse and allows for various special effects and noise cancellation -- most of these are unnecessary but the dual controls for both mic volume and mic sensitivity are extremely useful - I did find that by default the mic sensitivity is a bit low and that resulted in my voice dropping out during recording, but was fixed by increasing the sensitivity (I tend to speak low when gaming.) The surround sound calibration is a little strange but the headphones do put out a decent rendition of real surround sound via digital emulation. It's not particularly amazing, but for $99 digital set on USB, it's pretty good. This headset, like many Razer products, looks amazing but is overpriced and slightly over-engineered on the software end. If you want a "plug it in and forget it" solution I would recommend the analog version -- which is also cheaper. For me, the earcups verge on being too small and too tight, but they aren't uncomfortable -- and there is an unfortunate amount of noise if you happen to move the cloth cord. Its Razer so it comes in a box that probably accounts for half the price of the headset. If you're a "box keeper" you'll be glad to keep this one. ;)
I would recommend this to a friend!

compatibility

will this work with windows 10 computer for surfing the internet watching movies/music?If not is there a fix to make it work with windows 10? thank you
Yes it will work for Windows 10 as of October 2015. You must go to the Logitech website and download the correct Logitech Gaming Software for Windows 10 (either 32-bit or 64-bit, check your OS) and also download a firmware update for the USB connector which will update the Mic quality for Windows 10 systems. You should also remove any previous drivers/software for other headsets or sound cards before installing the new Logitech software.
