I bought this to upgrade my existing 42" Panasonic Plasma that I bought 11 years ago. It is and still is flawless. However, I wanted something bigger and didn't need a smart TV as I have all those features in my Xbox and PS3.
I reviewed several plasma options that are currently on the market now seeing as Plasma is going away, it's a shame too. After some research I settled on this Sammy and I'm happy that I did.
Initially the picture wasn't that great because the factory settings out of the box are very poor. So after finding the calibrations settings on AVSForum, I inputted the settings recommended on that forum by knowledgeable AV guys and O.....M.....G! WHAT A PICTURE!!! All of my TV stations are crisp, clear, and vibrant! IT feels like I'm in the shows/movies/documentaries. This plasma has deep black levels and this plasma is very bright, which is rare for a plasma. So bright that watching the TV in daylight or with lots of lights on in the living room doesn't bother me at all. It almost resembles an LED as far as screen brightness.
Watching a Blu-ray movie is absolutely amazing. And for gaming, ridiculous. I played Assassin's Creed and the level of detail and color accuracy is astounding.
Viewing from any angle is pleasing and accurate as is part of what plasma's are known for. This blows my bedroom's LCD away and my old Panny Plasma will replace it in the bedroom.
I'm so happy with this Plasma so far and can now wait for OLED's to come down in price. Get yourself a plasma before Plasma becomes a relic of the flat screen era.
This plasma is hands down a great TV for the value. I got it for $699 during cyber week and an amazed at the level of picture quality for the price.
If you are considering a plasma, look no further.
I would recommend this to a friend!

can this be laid down on side to bring home?

I read different answers and wondering if anyone brought their tv home laying it on side. I live 5 minutes from my BB store so it would only be on its side for 10-15 minutes at most. From everything I read and heard, no one had any issues doing this but wanted to hear from some more folks and possible Samsung if you are seeing this..
I also live about 4 miles away from BB and I transported my Sammie 60" on it's back with the screen facing upwards in my SUV. So far so good. No problems and the picture is amazing.
