What's great about it: how it looks. size.
What's not so great: setup
I bought this tv to use primarily as a computer monitor to do internet stuff and work stuff with. I don't even have the cable hooked up to it. I will put in a blu ray player and watch discs. DVDs look fine. Ordered online from BestBuy.com, picked it up at the store an hour later. Brand new, sealed in the box.
2 issues after connecting the monitor to the PC with HDMI. The video looked grainy, images didn't look real, the windows desktop stretched beyond the monitor so icons were half visible and the task bar at the bottom was half visible. Called Sharp customer support and the 1st person said to mess with the resolution which got the display correct but the quality was still lacking and I was below 1080p. The 2nd person had me change the video cable to VGA and it worked. Windows fits on the monitor and the videos look great.
I cannot read text any longer on a 22 inch monitor without glasses but this screen is large enough for me to read without glasses. This was my goal. The videos look great. MS Word has plenty of landscape to use. 2 windows open side by side is much better now. At least for now, I am very happy. I may play around with hdmi and see if I can get it working better, but VGA @1920x1200 works great. I have found the TVs are obviously made for watching video and if they work great with the PC, I think the TVs are better than the monitors. Calibration experts may find flaws in colors and so on (maybe not), but to my eye and for the value, this is a great TV.
Finally 1080p TVs in smaller sizes are hard to find. This Sharp is available at Best Buy for a great price. I got it on sale and bought the 5 year warranty so this thing is going to get a lot of use.
1 note, it says it has DVI. It does not. It has DVI when you take a HDMI cable and buy a HDMI-DVI adapter to plug into the computer. It does not have an on-board DVI connector. VGA or HDMI from the computer unless you use the DVI-HDMI adapter.
This product has... Great value and features for the price
About me... Technically savvy viewer
I would recommend this to a friend!

please explain SMART TV

smart TV has internet apps like Netflix and HuluPlus built into the TV so you do not need a Blu-ray player or a computer to watch Netflix. But, you do need a network/internet connection to the TV so the TV can run Netflix and get the video from the internet.

Does this come with a base or stand?

Does this come with a base or stand? (Picture seems to show it, but it is not listed in contents.)
yes it comes with a stand. the stand screws into the TV so it has a good solid feel to it, it does not just snap together
