What's great about it: Fantastic display, speed, thin and easy to carry, great sound
What's not so great: setup time
There are a number of VAIO updates, including the Calibration tool shown in item 1 below, that should be installed right after initial start and setup. VAIO and Windows updates take about 4 - 5 hours so be sure that laptop is connected to AC power before beginning updates.
1. Had problem with screen stability (opened and closed apps on its own). Solved the problem by going to Sony.com > Support > Electronics > Drivers/Software > Touch Screen > Enter Model Number and Click GO > Touch Screen > Touch Screen Calibration Tool > Download. Read and follow closely "Important Notes" and "Download and Calibration Instructions".
2. Installed BIOS upgrade by following path shown in item 1 above but Click on BIOS instead of Calibration tool.
3. Install Windows updates.
4. Windows 8.1 works great on my laptop after accomplishing the updates.
Although it took me a while to get the updates completed, the end results is a great laptop that fits my need.
I would highly recommend this laptop to a friend if they were sufficiently knowledgeable to accomplish the updates or had someone to help them.

What's great about it: Fast, Easy to set up,
What's not so great: A little large for a small desk
We have used this printer for 3 months and found it to be very fast in both color and black/white/grayscale. I use it for document printing while my wife uses it for photo printing.
Had problem with dropped wireless connections to router but found that problem was in registry on a laptop. Ran a registry cleaner to solve the problem. No more dropped connections.
Wireless feature makes it ideal for sharing among family.

Does this product come with Sony's 1-year warranty? And, can I call Sony and upgrade that to 3 years, and also add international cover?

Yes, it comes with a 1 year warranty. Sony will sell you an extended warranty for 1,2 or 3 years. Don't know about international coverage.

Shopping for a new laptop, what type would be best?

I am shopping for a new laptop and i am stuck at what type to buy. I am currently a PC user and I love it and am somewhat reluctant to switch to an apple product. I would be using my laptop for school, online gaming(large games), photo editing, digital art (would need to be able to use a drawing tablet with it), and general online use. What type should I lean towards? I am also interested in the touch screen.
An i7 or amd10 processor may be best along with either a 15 or 17 inch screen with dedicated RAM memory and at least 8 GB of RAM based on the intended use that you mentioned. When gaming and other uses you mentioned remember that the more RAM you have the better the system can handle the heavy stuff like digital graphics and online gaming. The laptop that I just purchased has a touchscreen and although I use the mouse and keyboard a great deal, the touch screen is fantastic when using apps on the start screen. Note: You may want to ensure that you get a 4th generation chip if you go with Intel and one of the newer AMD chips if you go with AMD.

What laptop would you recommend for someone who's studying fashion

Due to the graphics that you may be using, at least 6 GB of memory and i5 or AMD A8 or better chip with a 15" touchscreen capable of high definition graphics may be the best beginning specs for you to look for if your budget permits it.
