How loud is the spin cycle?

How loud is the spin cycle? My 10 year old model sounds like metal on metal grinding noise when it spins. I'm replacing it with this newer model. Is the spin cycle quiet?

very quiet. I replaced my 11 year old unit, the tub bearing is probably bad, but the new one (with door to laundry closed) is almost impossible to hear.

How long does it take to wash a normal load on the permnant press cycle? and what does the turbo wash do?

depends on the weight of the load and options. Usually 45+ minutes. There is a speed cycle that will wash/rinse/spin in 18 minutes

After reading the number of reviews which specify "water pumping from the machine instead of the hose" at variable periods of time after delivery, is there a way the owner can personally check the pump and hose connection periodically without requiring a service call?

yes, if you pull the machine away from the wall and view it yourself.
