What's great about it: Sheer girth is breathtaking & deep blacks
What's not so great: mild screen uniformity, but most edge lit have that...
Best buy delivered without a hitch. The guys were in and out in 20 minutes, and it was ready to go. The picture is – WOW. I mean, you walk into Best Buy and other electronics stores and you always stop and stare at the amazing pictures these 120Hz flat panels put out. For the money, the size is worth every cent. Another family member owns the 60” version and we loved it, so we went with the 70”. We sit eye level 11 feet from the TV, and it’s amazing. It doesn't stingy itself with lack of connections either.... there's a lot back there.
It even makes streaming Netflix look amazing. The internet set up was east too. This thing is a beast though it has a very sturdy (long and deep) stand. We bought this TV to replace our Panasonic 53” CRT (reverse projection HDTV) from 2004. All I can say is that we now have to go back and re-watch all our movies because the picture is THAT much better. I hear some people griping about the sound. We have a surround system, but the internal speakers were better than some others I heard in the store.
Bottom line – If you want a vivid and dynamic picture with awesome motion enhancement, crazy wideness factor, and awesome black depths, go grab this bad boy. Warning…. You will find it hard to get off the couch!
1 more thing.....if you don't like the motion enhancements (on advanced) you can turn it off to remove the Soap Opera effect. I left mine at "4" and it works great. Now, get this thing going with Avatar or Speed Racer blu-ray. I'm in heaven.
Edge lit LED panels give you awesome thinness, but since the light is reflected across the panel from the edges (as opposed to a full array across the back) you will likely see mild non uniformity when looking at the entire screen at all white or all black. It’s the nature of the beast and most I’ve looked at have some degree of this occurrence on sizes 60+. For the 70” I received, it is there as well, but again, not that noticeable until the screen is all white or black. If you are an AVID perfectionist, you may be tempted to worry or dwell on this, but it’s a character / engineering issue. Hit CNET and go through the reviews and then look at them in the store with demos to see what I’m talking about. Even the TVs I saw 3-4x the cost have the same thing happening.
This product has... Useful Internet-enabled features, Easy to set up, Great value and features for the price, Right number of connections, Easy to use remote control, wideness wow factor

I would recommend this to a friend!

Flashing the word "OPC" or something similar w/ green leafs at bottom of T.V. HELP?!

Hi,

We just bought the tv and have noticed at the bottom of the screen, in green writing, it will say "OPC" or something like that and it will have green leafs that are going up and down. It almost looks like it is the volume control going up and down, but it isn't.

What is this and how do we get it off our screen?
Those green leafs are the auto dim kicking in to save you energy (hence the green). Go into the settings and turn off that feature.
