What's great about it: Easy to set up, great price, quality picture, easy to access settings, quality design, quality brand
What's not so great: connections are slightly awkward
I went into Best Buy multiple times going back and forth on various TVs. I was hesitant on purchasing one due to much misinformation online and elsewhere. Each time I went into Best Buy, the employees were more than happy to help and inform me with what they knew. If they couldn't, they would seek out another more knowledgeable employee to answer my questions. I was finally set on purchasing a Sharp LED 50 inch 120hz TV as it was on sale and within my budget. However, it was sold out when I went to purchase it. The employee, Ryan, showed me a few models that were comparable in specs as well as price. Although I was hesitant to buy a model I was not intending to purchase on the way to the store, especially at an increase in price... man, am I happy Ryan showed me this model and that I bought it. It is superior to the other model I was looking at across the board. This LG 47LN5400 LED HDTV is outstanding. I set it up on my mount within minutes and had the picture calibrated to what I found the best, personally.
One of the key specs I was shopping for was a better refresh rate than the current model I had already. I was nervous on various TVs because, while some claim 120hz, they run more at 60hz. This LG is true 120hz and it only gets better with Blue Ray.
I have an Xbox One hooked up to my system so only having two HDMI ports is fine as the DirecTV routes through my Xbox One and into my TV, thus leaving one HDMI port available. There is a USB port in order to view photos and videos from a thumb drive, although I have yet to try that.
The sound of new TV sets have been arguably poor quality due to the sound pointing either downward or out of the back in order to have an overall slimmer/sleeker TV. While the speakers point downward on this model, I have had no problems with sound quality at all. Of course, this depends on the setting in which you set your TV up in (walls, open space, etc.).
Gaming on this TV is pretty awesome and the "game" setting for picture is easily accessible rather than being buried in the settings like many other models. So it is easy and quick to switch each time. The input lag is neither the best or worst. I have yet to play a FPS on this TV but I do not expect any noticeable issues.
The design of the TV is beautiful with roughly 2cm of trim around the screen resulting in a much sleeker TV and the illusion of an even larger TV than 47 inches.
Again, the main thing most people want from a TV is quality picture. This model has that right out of the box, and if you are more obsessive, do not fret, the many options in settings allows you to fine tune the picture just the way you want to and that is best for your viewing environment.
This is not a smart TV and honestly, if you have either a PS3/X360 or one the new consoles then this is not an issue as those apps on a smart TV will be available to you through your console.
Overall, I am entirely please and impressed with this TV. It is definitely one of the best purchases I have made at Best Buy. Also, I have never been driven to write a review before until now, so that is saying something. Looking back, I would have been sorely disappointed had a bought the TV I was originally in the store for.

what does 120hz refer to?

120hz refers to the number of times a picture is "refreshed" per second. In other words, a 120hz TV will show you 120 pictures per second resulting in a clearer picture than a 60hz (or 60 pictures per second) would. The more frames you see a second, the more fluid motion will see and the less blur you will see. Hope this helps!

Is 120hz vs 60hz worth the extra money? Also does the 120hz have a clearer/better picture? Thanks.

In short, yes it is worth it. If you already know the difference between the two then I apologize for repeating what you already know, but the 120hz/60hz refers the refresh rate of the picture. In other words, a TV with 60hz refreshes the picture 60 times every second. 120hz is double that, resulting in a clearer picture as you are seeing more "frames" per second. The result is a less blurry picture. However, most channels broadcast at 60hz, so whatever broadcast the TV is receiving is what is going to show on the TV. (full disclosure, I may not be exactly correct on that, but I know that's the gist of it). But a blu ray on a 120hz TV will look far superior to that on a on a 60hz. Hope this helps you!
