I'm VERY particular when it comes to sound. From headphones to in car audio, it has to sound the best. I was a Best Buy employee when I purchased this speaker. For the employee discount price, I couldn't pass up the opportunity, considering this is my first Harman/Kardon purchase. I had high hopes for this speaker, but boy was I wrong! This speaker surpassed every expectation I had by a mile! If you buy this speaker, I recommend taking the little plastic piece covering the Harman/Kardon logo on the back, because it will make a slight difference in the bass performance. Upon lifting the front lid, I quickly noticed this speaker was not here for the party, it WAS the party. This speaker (when placed in the right part of a room adjacent to your listening position) can easily blow you away with the clarity, bass performance, and loudness. The way the drivers are positioned, it can even slightly give you a "surround sound" effect, if the placement is right. This speaker packs a punch anyways, but it is a bit louder and more powerful if you use it while its plugged in the wall. Battery life is exceptionally good as well, considering this thing is powering 6 drivers. I listen to it pretty regularly, and I can easily get 2 1/2 weeks of charge out of this thing. It all also depends on the volume level. The only downfalls of this speaker is its only bluetooth. No aux input or Wifi Connectivity. Theres a micro USB port on the back for "software updates", but I've owned this speaker for over a year now and have never even used it. Lastly, the outer material can show oily/greasy fingerprints pretty easily, but its nothing that a cloth can't fix. I've really put this speaker through its paces, as I've played it loud in the house as I'm moving around, and a little bit louder outside in parties, and I can honestly say it still sounds as good as it did the day I pulled it out of the box. Harman/Kardon really did a FANTASTIC job building this speaker. I've NEVER regretted spending the money on this speaker. If you are on the edge about pulling the trigger and buying this, DO IT! I PROMISE you, that you will NOT regret it! This is one of the best purchases I've EVER made!

Unfortunately, no. This speaker does not support NFC. Upon the initial connection, it will, however, remember the device and automatically connect next time you power on the speaker and the devices bluetooth is turned on.

I would like to use 1 inside as well as 1 outside on the deck at the same time ? From 1 Iphone? Is that possible?
iPhones are not able to send two different types of audio to two different speakers through bluetooth. They have applications you can control your music on two different devices, but thats if the two units are connected to your Wifi network. There is a version of this speaker thats slightly more expensive that offers Wifi network connectivity, that would allow this to work.

Can you get a car charger for this speaker
If I take it camping can I hook it up to a car charger?
There is no car charger available for this unit. There is, however, a car adapter that converts the cigarette lighter into a 15 amp wall adapter that you can plug the standard wall charger into. Best Buy sells them at a reasonable price.

I can change the battery?
The time of playback is too short and I think the battery is not working or charging well
Unfortunately, no. The only option would be to send the unit in to Harman/Kardon to get a replacement. They MIGHT be able to replace the battery, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Auto-off feature?
When plugged into the charger, does the speaker auto-turn off if it's on idle or you don't play music out of it for a while?
If so, after how long of inactivity does it turn off?

When plugged into the wall, the speaker will not automatically shut off. It will stay on, until manually shut off. If the speaker is running on battery power, it will automatically shut off after 30 minutes if it doesn't detect any sound, or if there is no bluetooth connection for that period of time. The speaker does not automatically turn on, upon music playback. Once the speaker is shut off, it disconnects the bluetooth from the device, and stays disconnected until the next time its turned back on. It will however, automatically connect to a paired device thats in range when you turn it on, although it may take up to 20 seconds.

If my TV has a 1/8" jack, can I hook it to the speaker, i.e. does the speaker have a 1/8" jack for a direct link?
No, unfortunately. This particular speaker is only designed for bluetooth. They DO, however, make a version of this speaker that allows for Wifi, and AUX playback capabilities.

Which speaker has the best sound?
Which of these has the best sound...Bose SoundLink Mini Portable Bluetooth Speaker or SONOS -PLAY:3 Wireless Speaker or Harman Kardon - Onyx Studio Portable Bluetooth Speaker?
This speaker, hands down. This speaker has 6 drivers altogether. 2 tweeters, 2 midrange, and 2 subwoofer drivers. This will give you a more "pronounced" sound than the other two. Plus I think this speaker is louder with better clarity, along with exceptionally better bass reproduction.

Can I connect a record player to this speaker? Using a cord not bluetooth?
Unfortunately no, this particular speaker only has bluetooth connectivity. Although, they do make versions of these speakers that will allow Wifi and AUX playback capabilities.
