What's great about it: Stores a lot, separate FROSTLESS freezer, energy efficiancy
What's not so great: Big and heavy
I always wake up thirsty in the night, and I don't like to have to go all the way downstairs in my house to get a cold beverage. Consequently, I have owned a lot of compact fridges in my life, and after accidentally pierced the freon tube in the freezer of my last compact fridge while I was trying to scrape 2 inches of ice out of the darn thing, it was time to buy a new one.
I wanted one with a separate freezer and refrigerator this time, and I was hoping to find one with a FROSTLESS freezer this time, so there would be no more annoying ice-scraping sessions! (Or you can unplug it, and wait a day, but I found that to be inconvenient as well)
Out of concern for my utility bill, I also wanted to find a highly "energy efficient" model this time.
After endless searching online, and in the stores, I finally settled on this model, even though Best Buy's website mentioned nothing about this model being "frost-free". The energy usage of this refrigerator is the LOWEST of all the ones I researched! The EPA's estimated energy usage is $27 per year, which is actually BELOW the minimum range for ANY other compact fridge I am aware of!
And the best part is, once I got it home, plugged it in, and cracked open the owner's guide, I discovered that this HAS a FROST-FREE freezer in it!!! No more scraping ice out of my compact fridge!! That was the main thing I was looking for in the first place! If Best Buy would have indicated this one their website, I would have settled on this model immediately, and it would have saved me from doing a LOT of unnecessary research to try to find a FROSTLESS compact refrigerator, before finally giving up!
If you need a compact fridge, I would look no further than this! You will love it! The freezer has a shelf in it and holds a LOT of stuff. My only complaint that the whole thing is a little bigger and bulkier than I had initially wanted, and it weighs about 90lbs, (Which makes it semi-hard for 1 person to move, but EASY for 2 people to move.) but once I made room for it, and got it where I wanted it, I have been very happy with it ever since. It cost a little bit more than I had wanted to pay, but you really do get what you pay for with this unit. Between the energy efficiency, and the FROST-FREE freezer alone, I'd say that this is WELL worth the extra money!
PS, if you pull out the small, mostly useless, bottom drawer, it leaves plenty of space to hold 2, side-by-side, 4 quart pitchers! You can even re-position the shelf above the drawer to go above the top shelf, to hold extra items. (small stuff like yogurt. I can fit about 10 yogurts on that shelf.)
This product has... Lots of door storage, Multiple temperature zones, Design I love, No hard to reach spots, A freezer designed to fit full-size pizza boxes, Runs quietly

Can this fridge be moved laying down?

I need to transport this fridge on a 2 hour trip. Can it be laid on its back or side to do that?
Yes. I just did that to mine. You can actually do that with any refrigerator. Just be sure to give it 24 hours for the cooling fluid to "settle", once you have it in the upright position again, BEFORE you plug it in.

Is this suitable for use in an uninsulated garage?

Yes. It is very well-insulated, and quite energy efficient.

Automatic defrost means same as " frost free" ?
Yes! This has a frost-free freezer.

HOW DO I REVERSE HINGES ON DOORS on compact #FFPH45F4LM

Quite easily. Pop off the black, plastic covers over the hinges, unscrew them, and move them to the other side. There are pop-out covers on the other side where the screws go. Pop those out, and move them to the other side as well while you are moving the hinges.

What is the lowest temperature this fridge will maintain?

We bought this fridge and it's not nearly as cool at the lowest setting that our old beast of a dorm fridge manages to maintain well. I would like to ascertain if this is functioning properly or if we got a lemon.

PS, the freezer is keeping things perfect but to get drinks cold where we enjoy them I actually put them here in the freezer for an hour to chill them to a suitable temperature.

Sadly this refrigerator is brand new!
Mine gets cold quickly, and keeps things quite cold, even if you open the doors a lot. I think you must have a defective unit.

Can this refrigerator be placed within one foot of an oven?

I would like to buy this refrigerator for my kitchen, but I will need to place it near my oven. A response to an earlier question said that it should not be placed near an oven or a dishwasher. Is one foot away from an oven far enough?
I would think so. The sides of this are metal, and it is well-insulated. It also gets pretty hot in the back, just like all refrigerators.
