Mohu - Leaf 50 Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna with 60-Mile Range - Black/White
Mohu - Leaf 50 Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna with 60-Mile Range - Black/White
Launched in 2011, this design established the trend of paper-thin TV antennas. Universally compatible with all HDTVs, the Mohu Leaf 50 offers the benefits and powerful performance of our notorious design coupled with the Jolt Switch USB in-line amplifier to reach a 60-mile range. Control TV signal amplification in real time with a simple ON/OFF switch. When it’s "on", TV signals are increased for clearer picture and sound, sometimes receiving channels beyond your antenna’s standard range. When it’s "off", amplification is bypassed while TV signals are still filtered from FM and cellular interference. When plugged into your TV’s USB port, the amplifier only draws power when the TV is on, saving energy, or use the included USB power adapter with any standard wall outlet. Perfect for suburban areas, compact living spaces, single-TV homes, dorm rooms, RVs…take this efficient antenna just about anywhere you go. Easy to set up and easy on the eyes. Multi-directional UHF and Hi-VHF elements receive TV signals from both sides, so you can show either side of the black or white reversible design or paint the Leaf antenna for a customized look. Note: The range of this antenna will vary greatly depending on the height, power, and frequency of signals coming from the TV tower, as well as the height of the antenna installation, the terrain, and obstacles between your home and the broadcast towers. Find your TV towers and channels by using our free Antenna Point app on your android or iOS device.

I had the Mohu 30 which worked great (Sacramento area), but when I sold my home and moved to an apartment, my apartment faced the wrong direction from the broadcast towers and I was more than 20 miles from the towers in downtown Sacramento. I could bring in several of the major local stations, but they would become pixelated and I would lose audio every few minutes. I bought the Mohu 50 and hooked it up without the amplifier and immediately received ALL the broadcast stations in the local area but a couple had weak signals. I hooked up the amplifier and all come in nice and clear plus a few stations from the San Francisco Bay area......weak signals, but at certain times of the day they come in nice and clear. You do need to move the antenna around the room to find the best reception for all stations but the nice long coax cable allows me to do that and I can get a longer one if needed. I currently have it sitting in the window near the TV. When hooked up to my Tivo, the reception is not as good as when I hook it up directly to my TV, but the TV has a better tuner in it than the Tivo. Doesn't matter much since the two stations that I record off of the most have crystal clear reception. As with any antenna, there are things that can interfere with the broadcast signals (airplane traffic, metal objects, people moving around the room and even car traffic on the road etc.) and location affects the signals also. Some stations just have a weaker signal than others. Overall, it's a great antenna and performs exactly as I expected it to. Just an FYI, when I owned my home, I had it on top of my entertainment center using a makeshift stand I created from an old letter holder.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This Antennas Direct DB2E long-range digital TV antenna features an 11.8dBi peak gain and a beamwidth of 60° to receive clear DTV signals across the UHF spectrum.

what is the range for this antenna

how many miles will this reach
I live in Sacramento and can pull in a couple of Bay area stations, but geographical features such as hills, mountains, buildings etc. and weak broadcast signals affect the ability of the antenna to pull in a signal.

Airplane intereference

I live near a busy airport. With my current antenna, airplane traffic scrambles the picture and the sound. Have you experienced this situation with this product?
I have experienced signal disruption with indoor and outdoor antennas when airplane traffic is passing within a certain radius (couple of miles at least) of the antenna. Don't know if there is much you can do about this.
