I'm more than a novice at networking stuff, and figured this would be much harder/difficult than the "get started" sheet that comes with the item depicted.
Literally - all I did was exactly the steps in the order indicated with very simple instructions and pictures - and it worked perfect - and has been for several days now. It solved my problem of getting wired ethernet to the second floor of my home without wiring my house!
I would recommend this to a friend!

NETGEAR - Powerline 200 Mini Ethernet Adapters (2-Pack) - White
These NETGEAR Powerline 200 XAVB1301100PAS mini adapters plug into most power outlets, so you can easily extend Ethernet network connectivity throughout your home, delivering Web access to desktops, gaming consoles and other devices.

Already have a existing netgear 500 wireless acess point, would these work if added to the system too?

I have a similar setup with an Actiontec Powerline Product, and it works perfectly. I don't want to say this one will as well, but I had no issues with this setup:

Cable Model/Router (Comcast) --> ethernet in to first Adapter
Second Adapter - ethernet out to the "in" port of the access point.

Hopefully, success.
