How power does this device have
Will the Yamaha 5 disc cd changer operate without an amp to push your speakers and run a fm tuner? I want to remove my large stereo receiver .
No, it will not. The power output of this CD changer is like the output of any normal audio source (except turntables, which have far lower power output). A preamp and power amp, or the combination of these two devices into a receiver or integrated amplifier, is required to amplify the tiny output to sufficient power to drive speakers. The only exceptions to this rule are devices that have the words "integrated amplifier" or "CD receiver" as part of their name. There are some CD players that are built with integrated amplifiers, meaning most of the parts of a receiver are there except for a tuner. They are usually high quality and expensive, or they are portable boom boxes. A CD receiver obviously has the tuner as well as the pre and power amps.
RCA - Radio/CD Player BoomBox
Supersonic - Portable MP3/CD Cassette Recorder with AM/FM Radio, USB/SD and Aux Inputs
Marantz - 120W 2-Ch. Network-Ready CD Receiver
