This is a great laptop that is primarily a laptop, but also works as a tablet. It is a great value and performs very well. With no internal hard drive, the battery lasts a long time and it doesn't heat up much at all. It has 3 USB ports, SD card reader, HDMI, and touch screen for a very reasonable price.
After using one of these, I purchased a second one for my small business and I will likely be getting more in the near future. It is fast to boot up and handles all of the daily tasks without slowing down. I use this laptop for basic graphic design in Inkscape and it works very well. I like the larger screen size so I don't struggle to see the screen. I also have it hooked up to a 30" TV monitor through the HDMI and the processor easily handles running Netflix on the large monitor while computing on the laptop screen.
I do have frequent issues with the display driver crashing (on both of my Acer R14 laptops), but this is primarily when using the new Edge browser and it recovers within 1 second every time. It is a minor annoyance and I am optimistic that a driver update will eventually fix this issue. If you Google it, Acer is not the only company to have this problem.
The backlit keyboard is strange because it doesn't always stay on. You need to hit FN F10 and then it stays on for as long as you are typing during that session. The next night, you will need to turn it back on again.
I would have gladly spent over $1,000 to get a nice laptop, but this laptop has the same features for less money. It is lightweight compared to most true laptops, but it performs like a laptop should. If you want a primary laptop that also works as a tablet in a pinch, this is a great choice. I also like the price point for a business laptop because I don't want something too fancy in case it is dropped or stolen.

What's great about it: Small size with great sound
What's not so great: nothing
This JBL Charge speaker is very conveniently sized with outstanding sound quality at an excellent price point. I like the way it can stand vertically on a desktop or counter top without taking up much space. It is the size of an energy drink and it sounds as good as a speaker three times this size. It definitely outperforms the other speakers at this size and price range. If you are looking for a good portable speaker to take with you on the go, this is a great choice. The sound is clean and it will go reasonably loud.
I would recommend this to a friend!

are the speakers of good quaity
I have samsung tab 3 10.1 and I have trouble hearing in a noiser environment compared to my kindle.
No, the speakers are pretty small and not too impressive. Just what I would consider average laptop speakers. I would suggest using headphones or an external amplifier if you need good sound. I use mine with a stereo amplifier and it works great.

How is Acer technical and/or customer support? As a potential buyer, I'm concerned about receiving timely and relevant help should there be a technical issue.
I have had previous Acer products and the Acer support is non-existent. Terrible. However, I have come to expect this from most tech companies. I do have two of these laptops and they are great, but they do have a known issue with the display driver popping up a notificication that the display driver stopped responding and recovered. It is relatively minor, but annoying. I use a separate monitor so I don't even notice when the issue pops up on the laptop screen. Overall, I really like the performance of the laptop, but I don't ever plan to call their tech support.

dim screen? color accuracy
some reviews say the screen is not very bright. Any thoughts. Can anyone point to a review which covers the color accuracy. I am looking to do photo work
I have two of these laptops and I don't have any problems with dim screens on either of them. I don't know if they automatically adjust to the ambient lighting, but I've never had any problems with lighting. I use mine primarily for basic graphic design.

Are there wireless speakers made for home stereos
I'm looking for wireless speakers that will hook up to my home stereo amplifier, which would probably need a separate wireless transmitter hooked up. I am not trying to run it of off an existing blue tooth phone or player, but am looking for a unit that has a wireless transmitter that hooks up to an amplifier. The transmitter can use Bluetooth or any other wireless technique available.
Yes, Best Buy sells a brand called Rocketfish that makes an excellent wireless speaker kit. Search their site for "Rocketfish wireless speaker kit" and it will show you some options. I have used the wireless rear speaker kit for my surround sound speakers for over 5 years and it has always worked perfectly so far. This wireless kit sends a wireless RF signal from the transmitter to receiver and into standard wired speakers anywhere in the room. There is never any static and it is very reliable.
