Title pretty much says it all. The quality does not match the price. Assembly wasn't too bad, but in the end, the material just isn't good. It bowed in the middle in just a couple months time, and now has a noticeable sag, causing the side doors to be out of alignment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's an ipod. It functions pretty much just like all the previous generations of ipods. My only gripes are: 1)the battery is pretty weak 2)the small area on the bottom back side where the bluetooth signal is emitted is incredibly sensitive. So if you use your nano with bluetooth earbuds be careful. I wouldn't recommend using it in an armband. I made that mistake and the signal would cut in and out constantly even when the ipod was within 12 inches of the earbuds.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The sound is excellent! And I own many high end earbuds: Etymotic, Sure, Sennheiser, Klipsch, etc. The connectivity is great as well. I pair them with my ipod nano and my Nexus 5 phone. Pairing them is incredibly easy and they work flawlessly with both iOS and android devices: Volume up/down, next/back track, pause, and voice command.
Everyone's ears are different, but the stock tips work pretty well. I still switched to Comply foam tips though. I use them on all my buds. They provide a better fit, seal, and isolation.
My only gripe is with the cord. I tried using the little pieces included for cord management, but couldn't find a position I liked. If I tried to take up all of the slack, it put pressure on the earbuds and felt like they were being pulled out every time I would move my head. So I did away with those and just let the cord rest on my neck. If I run on the treadmill, I tuck it into my shirt on the back so it doesn't bounce up and down and smack my neck.
I would recommend this to a friend!

As other reviewers have stated, this armband probably isn't good for anyone with larger arms. I'm pretty average size so this wasn't an issue for me. I do have 2 issues with this armband:
1) I use my nano exclusively via bluetooth. And unfortunately, the signal/antenna area on the nano(bottom back side) is very sensitive. And this armband places it directly up against your skin. The connection would cut in and out CONSTANTLY! Even when I wore it up over my bicep where it would only be 12 inches from my earbuds.
2) Now in the winter time, I usually wear a long sleeve base layer, and I would have to adjust the armband extra tight to prevent it from sliding down while I worked out. So tight that I was worried about blood flow restriction.
That being said, these 2 issues were deal breakers for me. I have since switched to a Griffin silicone case with a carabiner. It conveniently attaches to my bag/backpack when I'm riding and a lanyard around my neck when I'm at the gym. Now I can walk away over 20 feet from my nano without any signal interruption.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The shelf at the very top where a sound bar can go, can I remove those 2 shelf spacers? I would like to get this, but my sound bar has a 16" depth. And I see that the shelving has a 20" depth, until I saw those spacers on the very top shelf. Removable?
No it is not removable, and it is only recessed about 7 1/2 inches. This stand is really poor quality anyway. It bowed in just 2 months and now has a noticeable sag. Not worth the money.

How do you charge the battery?
Do you need a separate charger or will it charge through the usb port?
No. A separate charger is not needed. They come with a standard micro USB cable for charging.
