My 3 year old daughter has had this for 1 1/2 years now and it's GREAT! Had an Apple before and she was facetiming my friends, sending messages to China and posting on my Facebook. With this Tab I can assign 20 apps in kids mode she can access (to include Netflix which she has her own kids profile for), so she can switch back and forth btwn her toddler games, Netflix, movies, etc. EXPANDABLE memory, I have a 64 GB SD card in hers which is loaded full of kiddie movies just for her. Plastic screen has not broken yet and it has accidentally been flung across a room before landing on tile when mixed up in a blanket. Samsung has great support. I did have one issue with it after a month and Samsung paid for me to send it to them, fixed it and had it back to me in a week. Grows with your kid or can be used by a parent by switching back to Standard mode (password protected so your toddler can't do it). I would and have recommended this tablet over and over again. Would only advise being careful adding free apps purchased app/play store. These have ads and will send kids to the internet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Regarding news about deal with NOOK
I just read that NOOK signed an agreement to be the ONLY reading APP on the Kids Tab 3. What will happen to all my KINDLE content in ADULT mode ? Will I no longer be able to access that ?
ALSO - Will I be able to load the apps for the Reading websites they for school - Razkids, ABC Mouse , etc ??

My daughter isn't a reader yet so we don't use the Nook feature. You can download ANY app. You then go in and select which apps you want your child to have access to.

Can you download movies to it for kids to watch in car?
YES!!!! :) it's only 8 GB but it has expandable memory. I have a 64 GB SD card in my daughter's loaded full of movies.

How do you play and listen to music in kids mode?
Just assign the music app to kids mode. you can give access to any apps and assign up to 20 easy to find cards for them. (But they can still access other apps not on a card as long as they are permitted.)

How old a child will be happy with this item, as opposed, say, to a Kindle Fire
We had a Kindle Fire and found it quite limiting. This one is good for 1 years old and up and can be converted to a standard tablet as the child grows (Or parents can use it in Standard mode.)

It won't stay on when it has been charged. We just get a flash and then it's off.
It's likely your cord or the charging port itself. Call Samsung. They paid for me to send mine back to them, they fixed it and sent it back in less than a week. :)

Tablet wont turn on
My daughter has had this tablet for 2 years. It was working just fine, we turned it off and put it on the charger for the night. Now I cannot get it to turn back on. I have googled "quick fix" which was "hold down the power button for 30secs" didnt work....."hold down power, volume up and down all at the same time for 30seconds"....still nothing. Advice?!
Call Samsung. I had a similar issue, they paid for me to send it to them, fixed it and sent it back in less than a week. Haven't had any problems since and that was over a year ago. :)
