I'm sure you can find speakers that sounds better and spend more money or possibly less, but I have had a problem finding a premium sounding system with speakers that fit under the monitors I have (Mac 27' and IMac). You can actually take the stands off with minor effort. I was told that the backs of the speakers would be bare without the stands. This is entirely not true! I took a chance and it panned out. Oh! Make sure you follow directions on the computer setup for the speakers, or you will think the Bose speakers sounds cheap!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can these speakers be connected to a vinyl player?

Yes, but some systems need a pre-amp or the power out for the sound will be weak. Also, vinyl is an analog signal. You will lose noticeable sound quality since this is a digital system. But it will still sound good, just not audiophile quality.

Bose Companion 5 going into standby every 5-10 minutes

MY Bose system is 1 week old. i had connected TV and watched a movie uninterrupted without any issues. However, yesterday the Bose speakers started muting every 5-10 minutes and i had to touch the control pad every time to get them on. Any advise as to why this is happening and the solution.
My system acted weird once. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and I have not had a problem since.
