You need to have realistic expectations

I get a little frustrated at negative reviews when what people state as fact is actually user error. I also can't understand why people take the time to write a complaint, but don't show the same initiative to read the manual. The manual is all of about 3 pages and addresses all of the reasons why some people are having a bad experience. If they had set it up properly to begin with, they wouldn't have complained. There are bad batches of every product so some people may indeed have bad luck and their one-star reviews are legitimate. Most others however had expectations of some super-deluxe, high-tech device that could do more than a washer should. It's $500 people. What were you expecting, for it to press and fold your clothes too? For me, I have had the washer for 4 days and have run 6 loads - from 3 small items to an entire oversized basket full of towels. Every load has performed flawlessly. I can't speak to it's longevity yet, but I expect it will perform 8-10 years just like my last GE washer (HE front loader#. It's true it doesn't fill with water above the line of clothing when using the load sensor mode. That's normal and meant to save water #read the manual#. As others have said, the bypass couldn't be simpler. Just set the fill mode to a higher setting. That's all there is to it. It all spins very smoothly and quietly - especially when you add the clothes in a balanced manner in the beginning #read the manual#. If you just haphazardly dump clothes in, all to one side, of course it will be unbalanced. As for loud banging during the spin cycle, the washer comes with a shipping bar attached at the bottom, easy to see and easily removed #read the manual). Other than that, washing clothes isn't rocket science. My clothes are clean, the cycle times are reasonable, and considering it's one of the least expensive, large tub washers on the market, I keep my expectations realistic and this GE washer exceeded them.
I would recommend this to a friend!

WATER LEVELS

my mother just bought this machine and she is not statisfied with the water not covering up the clothes in the machine what is wrong with it?
According to the manual you have to run to small, quick cycles without clothes to calibrate the machine. Most people with the same problem as you missed that in the manual. Have you tried manually setting the first dial to a larger/higher setting?

Agitator speed

Seems like all cycles are a very slow agitation speed. Is there a way to increase the speed?
According to the manual the different modes produce different agitation movement. I don't think they increase speed but they do change the pattern and duration. I think agitating any faster could result in clothes getting stuck or twisted unnecessarily. For me, I set everything to "whites" mode and it does the best as a general setting - good agitation and faster spin speed.
