What's great about it: Easy set up, affordable price, large screen, light weight, noise level discrete.
What's not so great: Material plastic, keyboard adjust, windows 8 adjust.
I have been looking to purchase a new laptop for school and to use personally. I searched online and couldn't find a good deal and actually made a mistake with buying a refurbished one which made me lose 20 bucks to return. Then I decided to look at bestbuy website. Turns out there was a deal of 249.99 for a decent Asus laptop, this one.
After deciding whether to get it or not, the reviews seem a bit too good to be true but I still went to get it mainly for the affordable price.
I would grade this a B+ purchase. The price was cheap, so of course the material of this laptop is cheap. The base and keyboard area is plastic-ish.. like the material of a rack or a small chair. It's not fragile though. Lightweight, big screen, again for that price it's really worth it.
Of course you can get a better quality performance computer (i5 core or even a Mac) but you'd have to pay a chunk more,(prettymuch double or more) $300 more for faster performance, graphics, details, etc? Personally think its not worth it since this one fullfills basic needs at a good speed.
Speed is not fast but not slow. It's not a great laptop but it's not horrible. Average laptop for daily use, though I wish it would be in different color.
This product is... Good sound quality, A touch pad that works great, Big screen size, A nice compact size, easy to set up
About me... Budget Conscious, Basic web surfing & emails, Student, Technology guru, Social media enthusiast, Gamer, Comfortable with technology
I would recommend this to a friend!

Windows 8.1 and Wifi problems?

I've read different reviews about laptops running Windows 8.1 unable to connect because of wifi problems.

Question is, does this Asus X551MAV-RCLN06 laptop have the wifi issues associated with Windows 8.1?

Well, at the store I went to pickup this item the display said it's Windows 8. When I opened it at home and setup everything, I went to the system details it said Windows 8.1
I don't know the difference. But I have no problems with wifi, my Internet provider is old and slow, but it still connects. Just input your router info.

is there a cd/dvd drive in this unit?
Yeah, it's on the right side with no USB jacks.

What is the average battery life?

4 and a half hours. Although one time I unplugged AC adaper and scrolled over the battery life and it said 7 hours remaining lol. Probably mistake, it's 4 1/2 hours battery life.
