Roku - 3 Streaming Player - Black
Roku 3: Access more than 1,500 channels in up to 1080p and view videos from Netflix and YouTube directly on your TV. Fast, powerful and loaded with features, the motion-sensing remote lets you play games or plug in headphones to watch late-night flicks without waking up the household.

I'm able to navigate to the various channels for TV shows (i.e. Disney for the kids) and I see there's of course tons of movies to watch. The problem I have is that the movies are all ones that I've never heard of and would never want to spend my time watching. In regards to the TV channels, the ones I would want to watch have either episodes from 3 years ago or I have to pay an additional fee to watch presumably newer shows. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think this is for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can I stream a movie from a DVD in my computer to the TV with my Roku 3? I would like to avoid having a DVD player.

I am trying to find out if I play a movie on my computer if I can stream that to the TV through the Roku 3 and not have to have any wires to the TV
If you have an active wifi connection, then yes. But you could accomplish the same thing with Chromecast for a fraction of the price. Depends if you want the other features Roku provides.
