What's great about it: Cheap & easy to hook-up
What's not so great: Apparently not very reliable
I'm returning to the store first thing tomorrow. I spent an hour off & on the phone with my ISP trying to get the thing activated and tried a direct connection to my cable wall outlet. Nothing worked. The ISP tech support guy agreed that it is definitely a problem with the modem. Oddly, this was one of the modem upgrades listed on my ISP's compatible hardware list. I ended up having the ISP re-activate my older, slower Surfboard modem for now, just so at I'm still able to access the Internet. I'll probably spend a little more for higher speeds and I may even stick with the same manufacturer to give them one more chance... but if they fail me again, I'll be changing to a completely different brand.

With the Motorola SB6121 Modem, does it offer a wireless router, or is it one that has to stay plugged into a computer?

The SB6121 Modem is a plain, vanilla modem. It can be connected to a separate wireless router if you have one. Otherwise you would need to connect it directly to a computer. There are several SB and other modems which do include a built-in Wireless-N router and those cost about twice as much as this stand-alone modem.
