This is a great PSU that can keep up with my XFX R7 260x 2GB DD and A8-7600. The only downside is that it is quite loud.
Under normal conditions this PSU runs fairly quiet and is not much louder than the stock PSU. However, once you fire up a game that ups the power draw, this thing is about as loud as an oscillating fan.
Another downside is that the cables are extremely long which adds a rats nest of cabling inside your tower. I could understand if you had a gaming tower with more room for cable management, but it is a real hassle for the average every day user.
Overall I have seen great performance but the ~70% efficiency is kind of a turn off. I will be upgrading this PSU to something quiet and modular in the near future.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My Setup
HP 500-314
AMD A8-7600
16GB RAM (Upgraded from 8GB)
XFX R7 260x Double Dissipation 2 GB GPU
2 TB HD
Thermaltake TR2 600w PSU
First off I would like to add that this card requires a few simple things.
- A 500w power supply at minimum (I used a 600w)
- A 6-pin PCI-E power cable (to plug directly into card)
- A CPU to match the power of the graphics card
- A PCI-E 3.0 slot
If you don’t have the above required specs in your rig, don’t bother buying this card because it won’t work, or work at its full potential. The other reviewers on here obviously don’t know that you can’t just throw this card into a store bought PC with a stock 300w power supply and this is the reason they are having issues.
You NEED to buy at very minimum a 500w power supply and have PCI-E 3.0 capability on your motherboard to take full advantage of this device.
Other than that, this is an amazing card for the price. I am able to run AutoCAD 2015 with complex 3D models, without a hiccup. I can also run the following games at the following specs; all are MAXED at 1080p. (Measured with FRAPS so actual numbers will be about 5-10 FPS higher)
War Thunder – Solid 60 FPS maxed in MOVIE mode with V-Sync enabled (105 FPS without V-Sync)
Counter Strike Source – 338 FPS
Counter Strike Global Offensive – 300 FPS
Dayz – 65 FPS in City & 100+ FPS in forest
Insurgency – 200+ FPS
Team Fortress 2 – ~328 FPS MAXED SETTINGS
- AutoCAD 2015 – no stuttering or hiccups
- Unigraphics NX9 – no stuttering or hiccups (even in 3D milling simulation)
Overall this is a great card that will allow for seamless 3D modeling in any CAD software and will run any game at greater than 60 FPS with maxed settings at 1080p. It is super quiet and never breaks 50C inside a tiny HP 500-314 case with one intake fan and one exhaust fan.
The reviewers on here who are talking bad about this card clearly don’t have the experience needed and are installing the card improperly. Take your time, meet all specifications, and this card will shine.
One last note, if you have an APU you should enter the bios and disable the APU’s onboard GPU after installing this card. This will allow you to save power and your games will run smoother as your APU wont be trying to render your games at MAXIMUM settings.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: High performance at low cost
What's not so great: Shipped with memory in single-channel
This is a great PC for the average PC consumer and casual gamer. It supports dual monitors out of the box and in stock configuration will run most games well over 100 FPS.
I use this mostly for college, CAD, and casual gaming. It starts quick (15 seconds from cold start to desktop) and has enough memory for anything needed by the average consumer.
In games I get the following:
CS:S: gets 238 FPS (MAX SETTINGS 1080p)
CS:GO gets 190 FPS (MAX SETTINGS 1080p)
Dayz gets 30-40 FPS (LOW SETTINGS 1080p)
WAR THUNDER gets 105 FPS (MOVIE 1080p)
After running these tests I added an XFX R7 260x and 600w PSU and was able to boost Dayz FPS to 60 on MAX @ 1080p.
If you are going to game with this I would add the XFX R7 260x but nothing higher as you will bottleneck the CPU.
The motherboard DOES support dual channel memory but comes from the store using one 8 GB stick in single channel. It has 4 memory bays and is upgradeable to 32 GB (4 x 8GB)
According to PassMark this CPU ranks as a mid-range, high end CPU. This CPU will trump any Intel processor in it's price range and is comparable to a low end i7 processor.
This PC is perfect for the consumer looking for performance on a budget.
This product is... Perfect for Business, quiet, Attractive design, Premium quality mouse/keyboard combo, easy to set up, lightning fast, Sharp graphics
About me... Budget Conscious, Basic web surfing & emails, Parent with kids, Student, Technology guru, Social media enthusiast, Regularly process large video or graphics files, Gamer

Power supply Dynex 520 takes a few minutes to turn on

I just replaced my power supply on my desktop is a Amd quad core with a Sata drive msi motherboard. After putting the power supply in, it didn't work right away. I rechecked and replugged power to motherboard and waited. After a few minutes it went on. It works fine now, but if I power off my tower and shut off my power surge it doesn't power up again. Then I have to open the tower again and wait few minutes. Do I have a defect power supply or does the computer have to stay on all the time?
I just purchased at best buy 2 day ago?
Check that you connected the 4 pin CPU power cable to the mother board.

the power supply in my hp pavilion desktop failed & i replaced it with this dynex 520 w ps. the ps works great, but now my computer won't boot up - windows won't start & i get a 'boot failure' message. what did i do wrong?
You forgot to plug in the 4 pin CPU power connector to the motherboard (some PCs even have 2 - 4pin CPU power connectors). Check all power connections and power on again.

Dell XPS 420

I measured my old power supply and it is the correct dimensions; however, I do not know if this power supply works in a DELL XPS 420? Can someone please help me? Thank you! Sher
Yes it will fit, the only dimension you need to worry about is the length, everything else including mounting is universal.

Warranty question

I want to install a liquid CPU Cooler as soon as I get the this machine as I leave my computers on all the time will this void the Warranty. This is the cooler I would install. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-series-h75-liquid-cpu-cooler
You do not need a liquid cooler for this desktop as it can't be overclocked. If you choose to install one anyway it will not void the warranty.
