I did my research on this LG shelf system. You wont find a better sounding system for the price. Absolutely no distortion at full volume and the bass is incredible.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can more speakers be added for use in an additional room?
no, there are only three outputs for the speakers that come with it

can you access all features without the remote?

i have a rental house and want to put the remote away and have folks use the unit? can ALL controls be accessed from the unit, without the remote, including the cd player?
yes all controls are accesible from the front panel
