I researched this projector for a long time and it came down to two things I wanted. Resolution and Lumen brightness. The more I looked into other projectors that were 1080p, the more i could see a severe drop off in white and color brightness in lumens. I went with this projector because of the amazing value, $449 on black friday. I use this projector mainly for family movie nights, but will be giving it a try this weekend to watch the Steelers/Ravens game. If you are looking for a reasonably prices projector that will offer you an above average image with true color and white brightness, look no further.
I would recommend this to a friend!

which brand and type projector would I need for an outdoor theater
Such as typical outdoor screen size ...suggested distance from projector to screen .

Any projector with a lumen count of 2800 or higher. As for screens, Visual Apex has a few at a great price 120inches and 144inches that fold up and have a carrying case. The distance depends on the projectors throw distance, but you can google projectors to screen calculator to find that. If you get a projector with an audio out you can hook up speakers to that or get a projector with an hdmi output and hook to a receiver with surround sound speakers.

What would be the best brand for an outdoor projector?
I'm looking for a projector that I can use outdoors, I'm not looking to leave it outside but I will be using it outdoors.
There are plenty of good projectors for outside. I would recommend any brand that has a lumen number of 2800 or higher. It is never completely dark outside so you will want it to have a higher lumen count to compensate.

Does it come with a carrying case?
No, it comes in a box with just a power cord, remote, and instructions. My wife and I use a large camera backpack for transport, because of the foam padding inside.
